The Terminator

The movie, The Terminator, was released in 1984. The movie introduced a robot with the same name, The Terminator. The Terminator comes from a future where robots are in a war with humans. In The Terminator, the future contains armies of such robots as The Terminator. One of these robots is sent back in time to kill Sarah Conner who is pregnant with the future leader of the humans.
The Terminator robot is literally a killing machine. Its purpose is to kill. Once The Terminator is programmed to kill something, it does not stop until it completes the task or is destroyed. The artificial intelligence of this robot allows it to recognize its target’s face and distinguish it from others. The AI can also recognize threats that may prevent it from completing its task and eliminates the threats quickly.
As for the physical structure of The Terminator, its body is similar to that of a human’s with arms, legs, and a head, with everything made of metal of course. Because of the robot’s body similarity to humans, it is able to put on makeup to look like a human in addition to its ability to talk like a human. Differences in The Terminator from a human are that it is much stronger than a person and has infrared vision.
My personal opinion of the robot is that it is perfect for what it does. If you want something that kills people, this robot will work toward that goal until it cannot function anymore. To improve upon it, if I were using this robot I would put many measures in to prevent it from betraying me. Along with that, I would improve upon its communication with people because in the movie, people who talked to The Terminator could tell it was not an ordinary person.

I have seen the Terminator movies and really enjoyed them. The robot, however, goes against Isaac Asimov's three rules for robots. While they are supposed to listen to humans, they are not supposed to do so if they would harm another human. I agree that it should be equipped with a function to keep it from betraying the programmer.

I really enjoyed learning about how the Terminator was constructed and how it was build. I personally think this movie gave many robots a scary perspective since it was a killing machine and it was very difficult for the Terminator to be killed. Because of this, I feel like many people may have become scared of further developing robots.

The Terminator is an excellent movie robot example. If people don't use robots in their daily lives, at least they are familiar with this movie. The Terminator has its purpose right in its name: kill or be killed. Fortunately, there are no robots out there like this that we will have to come into contact with. Maybe this movie is the reason why we fear robots and technology as we do. Is that the ultimate moral of the movie? I think for the most part, people fear what they don't understand and technology perplexes some, but not all, of the previous generations. This is why we can so easily relate to technology: because we've grown up with it.
